Waynesley Paul Simon Sr., veteran, man of faith

Waynesley Paul Simon Sr., 65, of Georgetown, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024. He was born June 22, 1959, in La Mango Village, St. Joseph, Trinidad and Tobago, son of Stanley Simon and the late Betty Rampersad Simon.

Waynesley proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he dedicated many years to the poultry industry, working at Mountaire and Perdue. Later, he worked as a counselor at DGS in Lewes, where he made a lasting impact on the lives of those he helped. His devotion to others was evident in both his professional and personal life.

A man of faith, Waynesley attended Kingdom Hall. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, and watching football, particularly cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. He was a social soul who loved spending time with his family and friends, and his kind heart, infectious smile, and warm presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Waynesley is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Vereta P. Simon of Georgetown; three children, Waynesley Simon Jr. of Milton, Candisann Simon of Georgetown, and Clinton Simon (Von Marie) of Laurel. He also leaves behind four siblings, Robert Simon of Houston, Texas, Grenda Cirwithian (Ronierre) of Lincoln, Tara Jean Cornish (Vernon) of Salisbury, Md., and Tarie Simon of Trinidad. Waynesley was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Olivia Rae Simon, Giovanni Simon and Alexander Sanabria. In addition to his immediate family, Waynesley is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, who will all feel the loss of his gentle spirit.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Clinton Simon; and two grandchildren, Shayna-Rae Simon and Kristopher Simon. 

Waynesley’s legacy of love, service, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
