Air ticket refund should not exceed seven days
The National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) established, through an administrative ruling in Official Gazette No. 43,000, dated November 5, 2024, the refund time for an air ticket.
Article 33 of said ruling deals with the right to reimbursement, or to alternative transportation, establishing in section “1” that the air operator will offer passengers a refund of the total value of the air ticket, which must be made in the same currency. in which it was acquired.
Said reimbursement must be made in a period that does not exceed seven business days and in cash, by bank transfer or check, “taking into consideration for the determination of said amount, the part or parts of the trip not made,” said Finanzas Digital.
At the time the passenger requests the refund, “the air operator must grant a written payment commitment”, expressly indicating the agreed amount and the date on which the payment will be made effective.
He highlighted that the provisions of paragraph “1” of article 33 will also apply to passengers whose flights are part of a combined trip, and “all-inclusive” packages organized directly by the carrier or air operator.
“The reimbursement of other services or packages agreed with agents or intermediaries will be made separately and are not the subject of these general conditions of air transport.”
