Carter Center: CNE announced Maduro’s victory without data from the polling stations

Jennie Lincoln, director of the Carter Center, denounced this Wednesday from the House of Representatives of Colombia that the rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela Elvis Amoroso announced that Nicolás Maduro had won “without any data from the tables.”

According to Lincoln, the Venezuelan electoral body was not “transparent” enough to “accurately” show the voting records of the more than 30,000 polling stations opened on July 28 in the country.

“There is a QR code on each record, and with this code, anyone with a compilation of data from these QR codes can calculate the data for the tables,” he said, noting that this was what the Venezuelan opposition was able to do, and that the Carter Center was able to verify the data.

The Carter Center, which participated as an observer in the last presidential elections in the country, stated in its report after the process that the elections “cannot be described as democratic.”

“The 2024 Venezuelan presidential election did not conform to international parameters and standards of electoral integrity and cannot be considered democratic,” the organization said in a statement posted on its social media and website.
