Three dead in weekend of violence in Sangre Grande and Valencia

Violence kept police busy over the weekend in Sangre Grande and Valencia.

The latest shooting claimed the lives of Kevon Lucas, 36, from Boodoo Highway, and Sherayne Salandy from La Horquetta.

Their bodies were found slumped in the front seats of a Hyundai Elantra, which was shot up by gunmen traveling in the opposite direction on Boodoo Highway, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police responded to reports of gunshots around 3:30 am on Sunday at Boodoo Highway, Sangre Grande. They arrived to find a blue Hyundai parked on a hill with two people inside, shot to death.

Earlier, around 12:47 am on Sunday, police responded to reports of gunshots on Kangalee Street, Valencia.

There, they found dead at the scene David Best from Cumac Road, Valencia, while two others were wounded.  The wounded were taken to Sangre Grande Hospital.

Just the day before, on Saturday 17 August 2024, Kern Charles from Cashew Drive, Valencia, was shot and killed.

Investigations are ongoing.
