5 held in anti-crime operations in South Trinidad and Tobago
Five persons were arrested, and a firearm and quantity of ammunition seized during ongoing anti-crime exercises conducted overnight in the Southern and Tobago Divisions, the Police Service has confirmed.
3 held in Southern Division
One of the exercises carried out on Monday (November 18, 2024) around 11:30 pm, involved officers of the St Margaret’s Police Station acting on a report concerning persons said to be armed with guns in the Pleasantville district.
Reports are that the officers conducted an operation in the Pleasantville, which led to the arrest of a 33-year-old Pleasantville man for possession of one Beretta pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition.
Two other suspects—a woman of La Brea, and a man of Corinth Hills—also were held during the exercise.
Robbery and larceny suspects held in Tobago
A joint operation in Tobago involving officers of the Scarborough Police Station and personnel of the Criminal Investigations Department and Tobago Divisional Task Force, led to two arrests.
The exercise was conducted between 3 pm and 7:35 pm yesterday (November 18, 2024).
The TTPS reports that officers received information that led them to arrest a 21-year-old male suspect in connection with reports of robbery with violence, common assault, malicious wounding and possession of ammunition.
A second man—a 19-year-old of Mt. St. George—was held in connection with reports of larceny in a dwelling house, and house breaking and larceny.
Investigations in these matters are ongoing.
