He Organizing Committee of CAF Marathon announced that six countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, together with the Venezuelan Athletics Federation (FVA), have confirmed the presence of more than 10 elite athletes in the ninth edition of the Marathon, which will take place on February 16, 2025 in Caracas.

Marisol Barrera, president of the Organizing Committee of the CAF Marathonreported that so far 1,131 runners have registered for the 42K category and 1,855 registered for the 21K category, adding a total of 2,986 participants.

“We celebrate that 39% of those registered are women, but we must strive to increase that number,” he commented. In addition, he highlighted that registration will be open until December 16. “Since we have advanced the date of CAF Marathon to February 2025, those interested may register until December 16, 2024 at caf.com/maratoncaf.”

Barrera reiterated that Venezuelans enjoy top-level competition thanks to the trust of the FVA and other federations in the region, as well as the support of sponsors such as Mercantil and Nestlé.

“Always thinking about everyone, we have kept the route in the best possible conditions so that on February 16 they can run with the standards of excellence and quality that we have managed in previous marathons. The ninth edition will be better than the eighth,” he added.

The routes for the 21K and 42K categories will maintain their traditional route, starting and ending in Los Caobos Park. These routes will be endorsed by the FVA, the International Association of Marathons and Distance Running (AIMS) and World Athletics (WA).

Along the route, there will be 29 hydration points: 20 for water and 9 for isotonic drinks, as well as 2 snack points with GU energy gel. Ambulances, motorcycles for quick care, medical personnel, security, entertainment points and volunteers will also be available, including CAF officials, family and friends.

In an online event held at the CAF headquarters, the yellow flannel, adidas brand, was presented, which the participants will wear on February 16, 2025.

The activity included a panel with Hilenia Andrades, marathon runner and coach; Yumaira Guerrero, general coordinator of “Multirecicla”; Diego Vallenilla, photographer and visual communicator; and Leandro Rossi, founder of “Reencontrarte Caracas”. Hilenia Andrades stressed the importance and growth of the community of women runners, inviting them to participate in the CAF Marathon Caracas 2025.

Yuraima Guerrero from “Multirecicla” invited all attendees of the Materials Expoferia to collaborate with recycling by bringing everything that can be reused.

“This sporting event fills everyone with joy, unity and solidarity. Furthermore, it represents a challenge and a great opportunity to raise awareness about environmental sustainability,” highlighted Cury Bottome from “Jardines Ecológicos Topotepuy”, who are responsible for managing the organic waste generated by the race and reusing it as fertilizer.

This event is consolidated as one of the most relevant in the region’s sports calendar, attracting prominent international runners and promoting the development of athletics in Venezuela.
