Edmundo González reiterates that he will take possession of the Presidency
The opposition Edmundo González Urrutia reiterated this Saturday that he will take possession of the Presidency on January 10, when the new presidential term begins, as he insists that he won the July 28 elections, despite the fact that the official result gave re-election to Nicolás Maduro.
“We are fighting, we are taking our voice, the voice of all Venezuelans abroad,” said the opponent – exiled since September in Spain – during a digital meeting with young activists.
Likewise, he assured that every day “the support is more visible” and more explicit”, while stating that “everyone is committed to the fact that on January 10 the reconstruction of Venezuela will begin.”
“For that, we have the backing and support of each and every one of you where you are,” held.
Meanwhile, opposition leader María Corina Machado said – in the same meeting – that she is planning a “huge protest” for December 1, inside and outside the Caribbean country, in support of González Urrutia.
The opposition assures that Edmundo González won the presidential elections
After the elections, the largest opposition coalition, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), denounced Maduro’s victory as “fraudulent” and maintains that González Urrutia is the elected president based on 83.5% of the minutes that claim to have brought together through witnesses, documents that the Government calls false.
Like the opposition candidate, Maduro – who has the support of all Venezuelan institutions – also plans to be sworn in as president in January, while several foreign governments are unaware of his re-election and other countries are requesting the publication of detailed results to clarify his questioned victory. .
