Three judges, two prosecutors and a soldier were arrested in Venezuela for a new “conspiracy” plan against the government of Nicolás Maduro, announced this Saturday by the Minister of the Interior, Diosdado Cabello, who linked the detainees to the opposition and businessmen.

“There is a new conspiracy, a new operation against the country, a new destabilization operation that has its origin in the state of Zulia (northwest).” So it Cabello said at a press conference, pointing out that a group of judges, prosecutors and active and retired military personnel were recruited for the plan.«Mr. Pedro Velasco Prieto, president of the judicial circuit Zulia state prison; eitherMaurelis Vilches Prietjudge of the state of Zulia; Maryol Plaza Hernández, judge of the state of Zulia; Francisco Urdaneta, prosecutor and José Gregorio Rondón, prosecutor»added the minister who later indicated that there was also a detained soldier.
According to reports, those detained today have “direct links” with the opposition leader María Corina Machado, the leaders Juan Pablo and Tomás Guanipa and an important businessman from Zulia, José Enrique Rincón, who – he said – is in Spain.

The investigations are ongoing and new arrests are not ruled out, as they assured that there are more linked businessmen and “paramilitary” groups that are being trained in Colombia and Ecuador to attack Venezuela.

The authorities also seized weapons of different types: six Colombian-made rifles, one M4 rifle, eight AK47 rifles, six American-made M16 rifles, a grenade launcher, a Glock pistol and a drone.

The Venezuelan government constantly denounces destabilization plans. This week, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez assured that three oil facilities were attacked as part of a plan by the Venezuelan opposition for which 11 people have been arrested.

In October, Cabello himself also announced the arrest of 19 foreign “mercenaries” for conspiracy against the Maduro government, including Americans and Colombians.
