They find the body of a young man missing after rains in Zulia
This Sunday, rescuers found the lifeless body of Jhon Rodríguez, a 19-year-old young man who had been missing since Saturday, after the heavy rains recorded in the state of Zulia. This was reported to EFE by the Fire Department of the city of Maracaibo.
The search effort began on Saturday after it was reported that three young people jumped from a bridge into a ravine, As detailed to EFE by the mayor in charge of Maracaibo, Adrián Romero, who explained that two of them were rescued, but the third was swept away by a flow of water.
He reported that the heavy rains of recent days affected several areas of the city, so officials remain deployed to attend to any emergency situation, since, he said, rains are expected until the first week of December.
“We are making every effort to continue maintaining the ravines, maintaining all issues that have to do with public services and infrastructure,” he indicated.
Last May, Venezuelan authorities reported on the activation of a national plan to reduce risks during the rainy season – which will end on November 30 -, which contemplates “all contingency protocols for any event”, as well as evacuation plans, installation of shelters and triage to attend to emergencies.
