Venezuelan family kidnapped in Mexico: they ask for $15,000 for their release

A Venezuelan family was kidnapped by criminal groups on November 21 in Tapachula, Mexicoand now their captors are asking for $15,000 to free them.

This was made known by Fraynet Daniela Peña, sister of one of the kidnapped people, through a publication on Instagram in which she indicated that she fears for the lives of the kidnapped people, since they do not have that amount of money.

“I am writing to you to request your help, because my family has been intercepted and kidnapped in Mexico, and they are asking for an exaggerated amount for their ransom,” said the woman in a video published on the media’s Instagram account @utahzolanos.

Those kidnapped in Mexico were identified as Fabian Peña; his wife María Paz, and their two children, one who is 13 years old and a baby who is only seven months old.

Peña indicated that The captors threatened to release the family and keep the baby.

«The kidnappers are threatening to take him away, to sell him (the baby). “They claim that they already have someone who is willing to pay $20,000 to keep the little one,” said the Venezuelan.

The kidnapping of migrants in Mexico has become a serious security problem in recent years due to the growing migratory flow to the United States.

Organized criminal groups that operate in various regions of Mexico see migrants as an easy source of income for criminal networks, who also exploit them sexually, at work, or use them as cheap labor.
