María José Castro, the woman who stopped a tank of the Bolivarian National Guard during the bloody repression of 2017, participated on Wednesday in the protest called by the opposition leader Maria Corina Machado and presidential candidate Edmundo González.

“This is a fight not only for Venezuela, but for the democracies of the world that are at risk and in captivity. We need them to follow Venezuela’s example, I want Venezuela to be the example for the world to follow,” he said.

Castro carried a banner at the demonstration with the message: “We are not the opposition, we are the government.”

In an interview with Caracol Radio, said:

«It took me 25 years to be able to write this, and it didn’t happen overnight. There were many crimes, sacrifices, many people imprisoned, dead, Óscar Pérez, Neomar Lander… many people who we remember today.»

The woman lamented that the world “has been cruel and irresponsible” towards Venezuela.
