The Citizen Alliance for the Freedom of Venezuela, a group in which 45 Spanish and Venezuelan associations participate, On Friday, he denounced that hate crimes are being committed in Venezuela and announced that he will promote the “path of universal justice” to bring those responsible to court.”

At a press conference in Madrid, the spokespersons showed images of violent groups shooting and attacking protesters in Venezuela and argued that “these crimes cannot go unpunished.”

“These ‘men in black’ are the so-called collectives, a name that hides what in other countries are called paramilitary groups,” said Esteban Ibarra, president of the Movement against Intolerance.

The Spanish activist pointed out that Civic Alliance has initiated contacts with the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela in exile to obtain proof that hate crimes are being committed in the country for ideological reasons, in a declaration that would serve as support for initiating “a procedure through universal justice, as was done with Pinochet.”

This will be the first step for the process to be activated by the courts “of countries such as Argentina, which is already proposing it, or Chile, which has initiated proceedings before the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan,” according to Ibarra.

At this point, the president of the Movement against Intolerance called on the Spanish government to “actively collaborate in a process that allows those responsible and those who committed the crimes to be brought to court.”

The representative of the Ibero-American Coordinator against Racism, Anti-Semitism and Intolerance, Manuel Rodríguez, said that “the police and paramilitary groups have been carrying out a savage and brutal repression” in Venezuela since the presidential elections on July 28.

“Maduro has become a criminal. He said there would be a bloodbath and there is one,” he added.

The journalist Miguel Henrique Otero, who directs The National From Madrid, he said he was concerned about “the ambiguity of the Spanish government” and asked him to lead “the process of returning to democracy” in Venezuela.

The spokesperson for the Platform of Relatives of Political Prisoners, Verónica Noya de Sequea, stressed “the importance of Spain recognizing Edmundo González (leader of the opposition)” as the elected president of Venezuela “so that the prison bars can be opened.”
