Stress from Town and Country, corporation
THE EDITOR: The operations at some government offices cause a lot of frustration. A case in point touches the role of the Town and Country Planning Division and the San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation.
The perusal of a flyer dealing with the approval process for the subdivision of land states the requirements that must be met for applications submitted at outline level, and these include, among others:
* Completed TCP/3 forms.
* A location plan including mile mark, light pole numbers and street names.
* A cadastral sheet showing the site in question.
* Prior approval from Town and Country to show the age and size of the parcel.
* A brief description of the project.
A transaction of the sale of a parcel of land at Hololo Mountain Road was completed without any final approval of the Town and Country division or the corporation. Conditional approval was granted but the conditions were never satisfied. There is no record of any application being submitted, neither was any permission granted to perform the works. The cadastral sheet used in the transaction appears to be illegal.
Failure to observe any condition mentioned renders the party responsible liable to penalties under the Planning Act. Several attempts to get an intervention in this matter yielded nothing positive.
Having to experience these situations where there seems to be no redress available is stressful.
