Jardine appointed managing director of RBC Royal Bank (T&T) | Business

MARC Jardine has been appointed as the managing director of RBC Royal Bank (Trinidad and Tobago) Ltd, succeeding Richard Downie, who is set to retire later this year.

According to a release from RBC, Jardine’s appointment was shared by RBC Royal Bank’s head of Caribbean Banking Chris Duggan.

“Jardine, currently RBC’s vice president, Business Banking, Trinidad & Tobago, took on the additional duty of Managing Director effective September 2, 2024,” RBC stated.

He is currently a director of RBC Royal Bank (Trinidad & Tobago) Ltd and sits on the Board for RBC Merchant Bank (Caribbean) Ltd.

“As managing director, he will lead and oversee the overall operations and business strategy for RBC Trinidad & Tobago,” the release stated.

“Marc inspires confidence in the clients he serves. I am positive that with his leadership and industry experiences combined with his network and knowledge of the market, he will serve the Trinidad & Tobago market with professionalism and integrity and inspire an engaged Team RBC,” Duggan stated.

Jardine first joined RBC in 2004 as a Risk Manager at RBC Merchant Bank.

In 2017 he continued his career outside the bank and rejoined RBC in 2020 as VP Corporate Banking, Government Business.

“He brings to his expanded role more than 20 years of financial services experience and is a seasoned corporate banking executive who has held several senior roles in Corporate Finance, Risk Management, Origination, and Financial Analysis, both locally and internationally. As an avid supporter of sustainability and community initiatives focusing on making the environment healthier for everyone, Jardine also heads the Caribbean bank’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) committee,” the release stated.

“Additionally, he serves as president of the Staff Charitable Foundation of Trinidad & Tobago, where he leads a team of RBC employee volunteers who support colleagues and communities in difficult situations. Jardine has an Executive MBA from Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK and a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Economics from Morehouse College in the US,” it stated.
