Former Congressman Gilber Caro arrested in Miami after fatal traffic accident

The Voluntad Popular party confirmed that the former deputy to the National Assembly in 2015 Gilber Caro, who was a political prisoner for many years in Venezuelawas arrested in Miami, Floridaafter being involved in a traffic accident in which a man died.

Why was Gilbert Caro arrested in the United States?

American media reported that Caro was allegedly arrested by Miami police officers after fleeing the scene of the traffic accident which occurred early Monday morning at Southwest 42nd Avenue and 8th Street in Miami-Dade.

A 29-year-old man who was driving one of the three vehicles involved in the incident died at the scene. An injured woman, who was driving another car, was taken to Coral Gables Hospital, according to Telemundo.

“Given that these are events that are still in progress, we are awaiting further information on the case, understanding that the United States is a country where there is rule of law and due process to clarify what happened,” added Voluntad Popular.

On August 15, the Public Prosecutor’s Office accused Gilber Caro of being part of an alleged plan to generate violence following the presidential elections of July 28.
