Members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces of Venezuela (FANB) captured two members of the criminal gang Tren del Llano in the state of Guárico, from whom firearms and various types of ammunition were seized, reported this Wednesday the operational strategic commander of the FANB, Sunday Hernandez Larez.

Through X, the military high command indicated that the subjects – who were identified as Miguel Di Giona Abad and Gregory Contreras Estrada – were carrying, at the time of their arrest, a “revolver-type” firearm and another “shotgun-type” firearm, as well as four spent cartridges and three unspent cartridges.

Hernández Lárez stressed that the Armed Forces maintain an “active deployment in the fight against groups that generate violence and affect the peace and tranquility of the population.”

He recalled that “permits and licenses for carrying weapons are suspended” in the country.

“Only the State may possess and use weapons of war and ammunition, and those that exist will be placed at the disposal of the State without compensation or trial,” he said.

He insisted that Venezuela “is a democratic state of law and social justice, in which active efforts are being made to fight against groups that generate violence and affect the peace and tranquility of the population.”

On August 21, Foreign Minister Yván Gil said that the Train of the Plain and the transnational criminal gang Tren de Aragua were “being hired” by the opposition to “start a coup d’état.”
