He Edmundo González’s lawyer responded to Tarek William Saab’s statements. José Vicente Haro confirmed that the opposition candidate will not appear before the summons of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. He said that, in his opinion, the Attorney General of the Republic lied.

Haro said that the attorney general used words that were not mentioned during the meeting they held on Wednesday. “One of the things that surprised me the most, but well, as some people told me, don’t be surprised by this situation, that they put words in my mouth that I have not said; I regret that it happened like that,” he said.

He explained that “it was shown that there were no guarantees for him to appear before the Prosecutor’s Office.”

The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, said this Thursday that the Letter sent by the Unitarian candidate Edmundo González Urrutia through his lawyer “it is totally out of place.”

“The communication he submitted is completely out of place, in order to justify and declare himself above the law and the State, because he is a normal, ordinary citizen,” said Saab in a press conference at the headquarters of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP).

José Vicente Haro, González’s lawyer, went to the Caracas headquarters of the MP on Wednesday to face the arrest warrant requested against his client. During a meeting with Saab, he handed him a letter in which the standard-bearer of the Democratic Unitary Platform requested respect for procedural guarantees that, he says, were not present in the three summonses issued by the Prosecutor’s Office.
