Venezuelan arrested with cocaine at Vienna airport

A 39-year-old Venezuelan citizen was arrested at Vienna’s international airport after police found 14 kilograms of cocaine hidden in his wheelchair, public radio ORF reported on Saturday.

The Venezuelan arrived on July 14 from Brazil and requested the airport’s wheelchair assistance service. Despite presenting medical documents justifying his stay in Vienna, The anti-drug agents became suspicious due to his behaviorsays a police statement from this Saturday.

Two specialized dogs immediately located the drug hidden under the seat and in the back of the wheelchair. According to police estimates, the cocaine, which was of high purity, had an estimated value of 1.5 million euros.

The suspect, who does not need a wheelchair and only used it to hide drugs, confessed to his crime during interrogation and is currently in the Austrian prison of Korneuburg awaiting trial.
