Police officers in the Central Division were yesterday searching for a Venezuelan man who opened fire on a father and son following an argument as the two walked their dogs on Monday night in Cunupia.

The 46-year-old victim and his son 23-year-old son, of Railway Road, Cunupia, had been walking their black German Shepherd and brown Pitbull along Munroe Road around 9.50 pm on August 19.

It was alleged that as a Venezuelan man walked past the dogs, they snapped at in an attempt to bite him.

A heated argument ensued before the Venezuelan man walked off.

Police were told the migrant returned minutes later with a friend who was armed with a gun.

The victims claimed the armed man fired several shots in their direction, striking the father in the right abdomen and both thighs.

Urging his son to run to their home which was nearby, the injured man collapsed on the road as the two Venezuelan men ran off.

The victim’s son alerted relatives and police took him to the hospital.

Three .38 mm spent shell casings, along with three .38 mm live rounds of ammunition, were recovered at the scene.

Officers canvassed the area and requested video footage from several residents as they searched for the suspects yesterday.
