Body of homeless man found in San Juan River

The body of a homeless man was found this morning in the San Juan River near Silver Mill, close to the Priority Bus Route.

Guardian Media understands the man’s body was seen floating around 9 am today (September 9, 2024).

Police, along with other emergency services, responded to reports of the discovery.

The Hunters Search & Rescue Team assisted in retrieving the body, which was taken for an autopsy.

The deceased’s identity remains unknown.

And in another incident…

The body of Laventille resident Anthony Charles, of Erica Street, was seen around 6:00 am today, after he went missing in the waters at Sunflower Beach, Blanchisseuse, on Sunday (September 8, 2024).

Reports indicate that Charles encountered difficulties while helping relatives who were struggling in the water.

Sergeant Babwah, Corporal Forbes, Police Constable Kissoon of the Blanchisseuse Police Station, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, along with relatives, villagers, and friends assisted in the search efforts.
