Two men and one woman were arrested, and a firearm and narcotics were seized, during anti-crime exercises carried out in several policing divisions on Tuesday, a statement from the Police Service has confirmed.

Officers in the North-Eastern Division obtained information that led them to a popular guest house in Aranguez, where they checked three apartments.

The TTPS reports that a search of those premises resulted in the seizure of a black Smith and Wesson pistol, which was fitted with a magazine containing seven rounds of 40 calibre ammunition.  The weapon reportedly was discovered under a mattress in one of the apartments.

Investigations are continuing into this find.

Also on Tuesday, a 23-year-old woman was arrested for possession of 3 grams of cocaine and possession of a device by officers on a roving exercise in the Southern Division.

The TTPS says police officers, acting on information relative to a robbery that took place at Cipero Street, San Fernando, intercepted a vehicle and conducted a search that led to the arrest of a 26-year-old male driver.  The man is said to be assisting officers with further investigations.

Meanwhile…  Police officers in the Eastern Division conducted an exercise that targeted Mafeking Village, Alexis Street, Mayaro Market and Ortoire Fishing Port.

According to the TTPS release, a 33-year-old man from Alexis Street in Mayaro was arrested for possession of 37 grams of cannabis.  He also was reportedly in possession of TT$906, a scale and a quantity of small packets.

Enquiries are ongoing.
