Blake, Ogando, Camacho-Quinn dominate at Continental Tour meet

BELLINZOLA – Jamaican Ackeem Blake, Alexander Ogando of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn all won their respective events at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet in Switzerland on Monday.

The trio fine-tuned for the upcoming Wanda Diamond League final by capturing gold at the meet which was held on September 8-9.

Blake sprinted to victory in a time of 9.96 seconds in the men’s 100 metres, comfortably ahead of Akani Simbine of South Africa, who placed second in 10.04 and Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme, who grabbed bronze in 10.11 seconds.

Ogando was just as dominant in the 200 metres, crossing the finish line in 20.19 seconds. Aaron Brown of Canada was second in 20.49 seconds, while William Reis of Switzerland finished third (20.55).

Meanwhile, Camacho-Quinn, a gold medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, edged American Grace Stark to claim victory in the women’s 100-metre hurdles.

Camacho-Quinn clocked 12.52 seconds, just ahead of Stark (12.54), with Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland finishing third in 12.82 seconds.
