Gender and Child Affairs Minister Ayanna Webster-Roy has issued a call for the public not to speculate on the circumstances that may have led to the death of a Tobago mother and her two young children.

The bodies of the three were discovered inside a decommissioned WASA water tank in Parlatuvier, Tobago on Wednesday night.

In a statement on Thursday morning, Webster-Roy offered her condolences to the family of the deceased and expressed her sadness over the situation.

She also made a plea for those with any information regarding the tragedy to come forward.

The minister said: “In light of this heartbreaking incident, I urge everyone to refrain from speculating about the details surrounding this case and to approach all communication with compassion. We must allow the investigative process to unfold, and I encourage individuals who possess to come forward and share it with the appropriate authorities.”

Webster-Roy has also issued a call for citizens to seek the necessary help if and when needed.

She said the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (999) is accessible for assistance for those who feel unsafe or threatened and for those who require social protection, there’s the Division of Health. Wellness and Social Protection ( 639-3395, 635-0237) or the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services (800-1673, 800-2619).

“As family members and neighbours it is crucial that we remain vigilant for the well-being of our loved ones. I encourage us all to offer support to one another and seek professional help when needed,” she said.
