Body of missing Paramin man found in Petit Valley
The decomposing body of Diego Roper, a 23-year-old Paramin man who was reported missing last Sunday, was discovered at Cameron Hill, Petit Valley.
Roper, who lived at Cacao Trace Extension, Paramin, was last seen around 9:30 pm on September 8, 2024. The Hunters Search & Rescue Team, led by Vallence Rambharat, found his body in bushes at Boiler Trace, Cameron Hill, just after 11 am, today.
Authorities identified Roper by a tattoo on his arm that read “Baby Boss”.
Relatives said Roper, who was unmarried, had left his home to speak to someone in a car that had stopped. They reported that he was later forcibly taken into the vehicle, which then sped away.
Roper’s mother, Martha Romany, and other relatives were overcome with grief as they observed the recovery of his body.
Romany described her son as a private, yet loving individual. She added that Roper was a farmer who had recently secured a construction contract on Morne Roch Road, which led him to hire a 15-year-old to tend his garden.
The form four student from St. Anthony’s College who worked for Roper, told Guardian Media that Roper, “never came around anybody.”
Several local young men who also worked in gardening expressed sorrow, struggling to understand why he had been killed.
Both friends and relatives speculated that Roper’s killer was someone he knew, noting that he would not have approached someone he did not recognise.
Investigations are ongoing.
