“I want to see my children,” wailed the mother of siblings Shenelle, 16 and Keston Singh, 21, yesterday during their funeral service at their grandmother’s home in Mayaro.

Scores of mourners gathered at the siblings’ grandmother’s home at Lewis and Sucre Streets to bade a final farewell to the brother and sister who were chopped to death on September 4 in New Grant.

Shenelle was dressed in a white dress with a white floral headband while Keston was dressed in a black suit.

They were brought to the house in two separate hearses but their caskets were placed side by side to show that even in death, the two siblings were still together.

Overcome with grief, their mother had to be consoled and restrained by relatives.

“Allyuh leave me. I talk to allyuh before they reach home. I want to see my mama face,” she cried, referring to her teen daughter.

Shenelle’s schoolmates at Mayaro Secondary recalled fond memories of her. She was described as being jolly and studious.

Her friend Sebra James said, “She was quote and quote a sweetheart, if her dimples were not shown during the day, something was definitely wrong with her. She loved smiling.”

James said it was difficult having to speak at Shenelle’s funeral since they were supposed to further their studies together.

The principal at the school Shenelle attended, Roger Morales, prayed that God’s mercy and grace would be with her and her brother. He also had a message for the person responsible for ending the teen’s life.

“For the perpetrators of this heinous and horrible crime I say may God intervene, convert and change these persons so that they will be repentant and remorseful for their terrible deeds,” he urged.

The siblings’ aunt Lovey Alexander, recalled that Shenelle loved to dress up, even if she had nowhere to go.

“When you see Shenelle she always dress up, is nails, is eyelashes, is hair comb, for no reason. You could swear she going somewhere,” she recalled.

Alexander said Keston loved to eat and was a carefree, fun-loving person.

The siblings were laid to rest at the Ortoire Public Cemetery.

Vishnu Badal of Naggee Road, New Grant, has been charged with their murders.
