100 journalists in China for media exchange programme

For many, the journey involved long hours of travel, but it promises to be worthwhile for nearly 100 journalists who travelled for a media exchange programme hosted by the People’s Republic of China.

Over the next four months, the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) will conduct training and activities designed to foster a deeper mutual understanding and provide unique insights into the country.

On Monday, CIPCC director Yu Lei inaugurated the second cohort of the programme for the year, welcoming media representatives from 84 countries across various regions of the world.

“This is a very precious opportunity for all of us to be working together in China for the same objective, which is the promotion of mutual understanding between China and the outside world,” Lei said.

In addition to media training, journalists will journey to multiple provinces to fully immerse themselves in diverse Chinese cultural traditions and practices, gaining first-hand insights into Chinese society.

Journalists will also attend the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), one of the most prominent cooperative partnerships between regions.

T&T is proud to be among the nine Caribbean countries represented at this year’s CIPCC programme, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with China.
