A 25-year-old man from Diego Martin was recently scammed while attempting to purchase a vehicle through Facebook Marketplace.

According to a police report, the man responded to an ad for a white Toyota Corolla, registration number 141 PCM 243. He made arrangements with a woman to purchase the car.

After the initial discussion, he was directed to meet a man in the Fairways area of Maraval, to whom he paid $6,000 in cash. The man claimed to represent the woman who posted the ad.

Subsequent attempts to contact the woman regarding the delivery of the vehicle were unsuccessful, prompting the victim to report the matter to the police.

Authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution when conducting transactions through online platforms.
