Bandits steal thousands of TT, US, Canadian cash in Penal home invasion

A woman was among four bandits who broke into a businesswoman’s home in Penal and escaped with hundreds of thousands of dollars, a firearm, and a quantity of jewellery on Monday morning. 

The bandits, armed with cutlasses struck around 12:30 a.m. The victim said they spoke Spanish. 

The 59-year-old victim from Penal Quinam Road went to bed around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. She told police that the bandits, dressed in black and wearing masks, woke her up. They covered her face, tied her up, and ransacked the house.

After managing to untie herself, the woman noticed that hundreds of thousands of TT dollars, tens of thousands of US dollars, and thousands of Canadian dollars were missing. Her Glock pistol, with a magazine and 40 rounds of ammunition, was also stolen, along with some jewellery. The bandits had entered the house by prying open a window. Penal police are investigating.
