Additional sailings on sea-bridge for truckers, port users moving cargo

Additional sailings are being provided for all truckers and port users on the sea-bridge, while the M.V. Cabo Star remains out of circulation, following the recent incident of a minor fire in that vessel’s auxiliary engine room.

In its most recent advisory, the Management of Trinidad and Tobago Inter-Island Transportation Co. Ltd (TTIT) shares an amended daily travel schedule for the other vessels currently operational on the sea-bridge, including the additional sailings to assist with the cargo requirements, during the M.V. Cabo Star’s absence.

The TTIT also advises truckers and port users that:

  ●   Vehicles up to 7,000kgs will be accommodated on the remaining vessels.

  ●   Priority will be given to foodstuff, pharmaceuticals and other perishables.

The amended sea-bridge schedule is as follows:

The TTIT statement also outlined what took place on the M.V. Cabo Star on Tuesday, this week.

“Around 10.24 am on Tuesday 20th August 2024, a minor fire occurred in the auxiliary engine room on the M.V. Cabo Star. Emergency procedures were initiated by the vessel’s crew and within a short time the fire was extinguished.”

In addition, the TTIT explained why the extended delay in getting the vessel back to work.

 “Given the nature of this incident, the vessel will be subject to thorough inspections by the vessel’s classification society, which is based in Panama and will require their surveyors to travel to Trinidad for this purpose.”
