TTPS Officers From Trinidad To Assist Tobago
Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley believes that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in Tobago can benefit from assistance from officers in Trinidad and to do this, a short-term rotation of police officers from Trinidad to Tobago will be implemented.
Noting that 90% of the Police Service in Tobago are made up of Tobagonians, Dr. Rowley said the policing effort is not as sharp as it should be.
He was speaking at a Media Conference today after holding discussions on crime and criminality in Tobago with the Tobago House of Assembly Chief Secretary, Farley Augustine, The Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, Commissioner of Police, Erla Harewood-Christopher, and other members of the TTPS .
The Prime Minister and Head of the National Security Council explained why the rotation is necessary.
Chief Secretary Farley Augustine is satisfied that the plan will make a dent in the crime situation on the island, especially if executed well.
