“My mother and I have both been recognised by MIPAD (Most Influential People of African Descent) in support of the United Nations’ Decade Dedicated to People of African Descent.We were both recognised for two completely different categories. This is the first time a mother and daughter have both been recognised by MIPAD and thus marks a momentous occasion.

I was recognised under the category of ‘culture and media’ for the global top 100 under 40 edition, while my mother was recognised for the global top 100 creatives edition in 2021. We are both very proud to be representing T&T and the Caribbean region in such an impactful space and are truly grateful for the recognition from MIPAD and Mipadians globally.

We will both be heading to New York in September to accept my award and also partake in the activities happening during recognition week. I am so excited and looking forward to being part of many important global topics happening that week and also getting the chance to visit the United Nations headquarters, which has always been a childhood dream.”

In support of the International Decade for People of African Descent, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 68/237 and to be observed from 2015 to 2024, the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) identifies high achievers of African descent in the public and private sectors from all around the world as a progressive network of relevant actors to join together in the spirit of recognition, justice, and development of Africa, its people on the continent, and across its Diaspora.
