Maricela de Loaiza, executive president of the Venezuelan Airlines Association (ALAV), confirmed on Monday that Venezuelans who wish to enter or leave the country by air must have a passport and a valid identification card..

In statements for Union RadioDe Loaiza explained that the new regulations for the aviation sector were received after a meeting with representatives of the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) and the Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Immigration (Saime).

“Right now they are not boarding the passenger if he does not have a valid passport or ID”indicated the representative of ALAV, highlighting that airlines that do not comply with the regulations may be fined.

If they do not have a valid Venezuelan passport, Venezuelans must request a ‘Travel Document’ from the Venezuelan Consulate or Embassy accredited abroad and register it with the airline at least 72 hours before boarding.

Citizens who have dual nationality must also present a valid Venezuelan passport. “In the event that the Venezuelan passport has expired, you will not be able to board even if you have your passport of your other nationality in force,” said the Latam airline in a statement published on its website on September 27.

ALAV foresees an increase in flight frequency

ALAV hopes that this year the frequency of flights to other countries with which operations continue will increase.

“The airlines to the destinations that are being operated could increase,” added De Loaiza.

Among the destinations with which he considers that flight frequencies could be increased, he mentioned Mexico, Curacao and Colombia.

The ALAV representative reported that currently there are 92 flights a week from Venezuela to other countries.
