Within the framework of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79), the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, participated in the meeting of “high level on Venezuela” convened by the North American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and the Argentine representative, Diana Mondino.

During the meeting, Almagro reaffirmed the continuity of the actions in the International Criminal Court (CPI) to bring charges and issue arrest warrants against “those principally responsible for crimes against humanity” in Venezuela, including possible “appropriate presidential responsibility.”

In addition, the Secretary General of the OAS proposed a collegiate government formula for the “transition and institutional reconstruction” in the country. He recalled that this proposal was presented almost two years ago, and in his opinion it continues to be a viable solution for the political and social crisis that Venezuela is going through.

The summit meeting for Venezuela, which included the participation of senior officials and international representatives, focused on seeking peaceful and consensual solutions to the political crisis facing the country.
