AN will appoint a new rector of the CNE in the absence of Juan Carlos Delpino

  • Oct, Tue, 2024

During an ordinary session that will take place this Tuesday, October 8, The National Assembly (AN) elected in 2020 plans to designate and swear in a rector to replace Juan Carlos Delpino in the National Electoral Council (CNE), for alleged abandonment of office.

This was announced in the agenda, which also contemplates naming and swearing in the Citizen Power Nomination Evaluation Committee for the subsequent designation of those who will be the replacements for Alfredo Ruiz, in the Ombudsman’s Office; Tarek William Saab, in the Public Ministry, and Jhosnel Peraza Machado, in the Comptroller’s Office of the Republic.

In addition, it is estimated that an agreement will be approved in commemoration of the “perfect victory” of former President Hugo Chávez on October 7, 2012.

Juan Carlos Delpino in forced exile

Juan Carlos Delpino is in forced exile after denouncing the multiple irregularities of the last presidential election on July 28. The rector pointed out that it is impossible to certify that the results that suggested the victory of Nicolás Maduro are correct.

Last week, Delpino met with opponent Edmundo González Urrutia in Spainto whom he told “in detail his experience of what he experienced on July 28 within the facilities of the electoral body.”

Juan Carlos Delpino, after weeks absent from public opinion, claimed to have at the end of August “elements of a technical, auditing nature and the minutes that were totalized that give clear evidence that the hacking may never have occurred. The opposition has those elements, it has that audit report and it has that report signed by all the auditors, and it has the study that was done on that.”
