The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry stated, through a video on Instagram, that “everything is ready to receive deputies from the five continents,” while Parliament confirmed, through X, the arrival of the delegations to the country. from Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia.
The government is preparing this activity when the country is going through a political crisis after the presidential elections of July 28, the official result of which gave the re-election to Nicolás Maduro, a victory questioned by much of the international community and rejected by the largest opposition coalition, the Unitary Platform. Democratic Party (PUD), which the ruling party calls “fascist.”
Besides, the PUD denounces “fraud” and insists that the winner of the elections was its candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, who is in exile in Spain considering that he was suffering political and judicial persecution after the elections.
Last September, Venezuela hosted a world congress against fascism, neo-fascism and “similar expressions,” which was organized by the Maduro government to strengthen “the global fight” against this “threat,” the country’s authorities said at the time.
