Apartment explosion in Guanta left at least 11 injured

At least 11 people were injured after the explosion and subsequent fire in an apartment of tower 10 of the Parque Guaraguao residential complex, located adjacent to the Bolipuerto Guanta, in the state of Anzoátegui, during the night of October 17.

The governor of the entity, Luis Marcano, explained that the 11 people who were injured were transferred to health centers, four of them with severe burns.

The emergency was attended by marine firefighters and Civil Protection (PC) from Guanta, who controlled the fire almost an hour after the explosion occurred, while providing help to the injured neighbors.

The apartment where the explosion occurred showed damage throughout its structurewhile the shock wave caused windows, doors, walls and bars of nearby residences to explode and reached vehicles parked in the parking lot.

What caused the explosion in Guanta?

The inhabitants of the tower where the fire occurred evacuated their buildings and experienced minutes of panic due to the strong detonation and subsequent spread of the flames.

Early research indicates that The explosion was caused by a gas leak, However, the governor of the entity said that the security agencies began investigations to find out the origin of the event.
