Heritage Petroleum Company Limited (Heritage) is still working to determine the source of a hydrocarbon leak offshore South West Trinidad and along the Cedros coastline.

The company on Wednesday responded to reports of said hydrocarbon sightings.

The Incident Management Team (IMT) was initiated, and a Heritage Spill Response Team along with three oil spill response contractors were dispatched and cleanup activities commenced.

The company said officials are also engaging with the local community.

Regulatory agencies, including the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI), the Environmental Management Authority (EMA), the Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA), and marine stakeholders were notified.

At this time, surveillance of all beaches is underway and all available resources are being mobilised to continue the incident response.
