In a strategic effort to prepare Trinidad and Tobago’s youth for the digital future, bmobile partnered with CARIRI to empower over 3,500 students through this year’s virtual Innovation Nation Training Camp. The program provided participants with invaluable skills in fields such as coding, engineering, business development, mobile app creation, entrepreneurship, innovation, and climate action.

bmobile has been an integral part of the camp’s success, providing the resources necessary to make the program accessible to students from across the country, particularly those in underserved rural communities. This partnership aligns with bmobile’s ongoing commitment to nurturing innovation, fostering digital literacy, and empowering the next generation of leaders.

Anjanie Ramesar-Soom of bmobile’s Corporate, Environmental, Social & Reputation Management team, praised the camp’s efforts, stating, “By investing in these young minds and providing the tools they need to innovate, we are shaping a brighter future for Trinidad and Tobago. Youth development is not only a corporate responsibility but an investment in national progress.”

A key highlight of the camp was its ‘Power Up’ Competition, where students were challenged to develop solutions for real-world problems, particularly those affecting the environment. bmobile also provided an opportunity for the ten finalists to be mentored by Shedron Collins, CEO of Youth Business Trinidad and Tobago (YBTT), who prepared them for pitching their solutions. bmobile’s support enabled these young innovators to participate in this exciting challenge, inspiring creativity and solutions-driven thinking.

Lynette Akong, Senior ICT Business Coordinator at CARIRI, emphasized the value of the long-standing partnership with bmobile. She said, “Our collaboration with bmobile has been critical in scaling Innovation Nation’s reach to students nationwide, particularly in rural areas. Together, we are committed to empowering the next generation with the tools they need to become change-makers in fields like technology and climate action. This is how we build a sustainable future for Trinidad and Tobago.”

The camp concluded with students being empowered to adopt energy-conscious mindsets and apply their new skills to address global challenges. CARIRI has impacted over 8,000 students to date, aligning its efforts with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals such as quality education, affordable energy, and climate action.

With this collaboration, bmobile and CARIRI continue to drive innovation and inspire the next generation, paving the way for a technologically advanced and sustainable future for Trinidad and Tobago.
