Boodoo, Ramanan and Racha get CWI awards
Trinidad and Tobago captain Brendan Boodoo, wicketkeeper Christian Ramanan and fast bowler Aadian Racha were among the top awardees at the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Men’s Under-17 Two-Day and 50-Over Championships prize-giving ceremony at the Couva Chamber of Commerce on Monday evening.
Barbadian Zachary Carter emerged the “Most Valuable Player” in both formats which ran at three venues – the National Cricket Centre in Couva, Inshan Ali Park in Preysal, and Gilbert Park, California from August 12- September 2
In the 50 overs competition, Boodoo was awarded for the most catches by an outfielder, three, shared with Carter.
Christian Ramanan shared the award for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper with Guyana’s Rampersaud Ramnauth with six victims also in the 50 overs tournament.
Aadian Racha’s tornado-like spell for five for 13, inclusive of a hat trick, earned him the “Player-of-the-Match” award for the 11-run win over Jamaica on Sunday and Boodoo was also named “Player-of-the-Match” for his six for 22 in the win against Guyana.
Carter won the lion’s share of awards, as the all-rounder was dominant throughout the prize-giving ceremony as he was during the campaign.
The left-handed batsman collected the awards for the “Fielder with most Catches”, “Batter with the Most Runs” as well as “Most Wickets” tied with Guyana’s Jonathan van Lange. Carter also had two “Man-of-the-Match” awards
In the Two-Day format, held before the shorter version, Carter earned two “Man-of-the-Match” awards out of the three matches.
