Brother chops his sibling during argument

A family dispute in Mafeking Village, Mayaro, escalated into violence when a man attacked his brother with a cutlass during an argument over food.
The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. on Thursday.
The altercation began at a home on Cedar Grove Road, where the two brothers, aged 45 and 43, were arguing when the younger sibling allegedly inflicted several chop wounds on the victim while threatening to kill him. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack.
The injured man was taken to the Mayaro District Hospital by a relative, where he was treated for multiple lacerations, including deep cuts to his forehead, chest, and shoulder. He was kept under observation before being discharged.
The incident was reported to the Mayaro CID, and officers responded promptly, interviewing the victim and relatives, who provided key information.
Two detailed statements were recorded, and a medical certificate was obtained, outlining the extent of the injuries.
Despite efforts by police throughout the night, the suspect remains at large.
Crime scene investigators are expected to visit the location to collect evidence as inquiries continue.
