Programme director of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), Major David Benjamin, says the participants in the programme are showing the T&T public the true value of our young people.

Benjamin made the comment at the CCC’s annual Hair, Make-up, Nails and Barbering competition at the North Central Region’s Mausica Teachers’ Training College, South Trunk Road, Mausica, recently.

“Our primary objective is for the development of the youths. What you are witnessing here today is evidence of the CCC being focused on youth development,” Benjamin said.

He thanked the tutors of the various disciplines and asked them to continue urging the participants to strive for excellence.

“Let us continue to entrust our future in the youths of Trinidad and Tobago,” he appealed, noting that currently, there were many negative aspects of society which could distract the young people.

Celine Mottley, a former participant who now operates her own salon, said the competition offered trainees a valuable opportunity to demonstrate their skills and creativity, while encouraging them to push their artistic boundaries. She noted that the programme provided hands-on experience, professional feedback and confidence-building, all critical for their future careers in the beauty industry.
