Police are investigating a report that a church in Tortuga was destroyed by fire.

The incident was reported at about 2:25am yesterday along Mayo Road.

Police were told that residents in the area observed smoke coming from the Tortuga Open Bible Church and notified the police and fire services.

A team of officers led by FSO Baptiste from the Savonetta Fire Station responded.
However, the flames had destroyed the structure of the building, and it had collapsed.

Fire officers were able to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes.
No injuries were reported.

Police have no cause for the fire, and officials are expected to return to the scene. WPC Joseph is continuing enquiries.
