Claxton Bay couple killed in front of baby

A Claxton Bay couple was shot to death last night while at home with their seven-month-old baby.

Fortunately, the baby was not harmed.

The deceased have been identified as scrap iron worker Basdeo Lallan, 46, and Whitney Narine, 21, a labourer at the San Fernando City  Corporation.

Guardian Media understands around 9 pm on Thursday, an assailant wearing a jersey over his face entered their home at Teak Drive, Macaulay Road.

The gunman shot Lallan in his bedroom.

Narine ran into the bedroom and was also shot.

As the assailant ran off, another person who was in the house picked up the couple’s baby from in the bedroom and ran outside the home.

Police found Lalchan’s body leaning against the wall in a sitting position, while Narine was discovered lying face-down on the ground.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3 are investigating.
