Cops arrest 3, seize illegal gun in Tobago
In a series of operations on Tuesday, Tobago police arrested three individuals and seized an illegal firearm and ammunition on the island.
According to a TTPS report, officers on mobile patrol in the Milford Court car park observed two men behaving suspiciously shortly before noon. Upon conducting a routine search, they discovered a Suzuki car key hidden in a cigarette box.
Further investigation of the vehicle revealed a revolver wrapped in a red bandana under the driver’s seat.
The two men, a 34-year-old from Milford Road and a 27-year-old from Teak Avenue were cautioned, arrested, and transported to the Crown Point Police Station for further investigation.
Later that day, an alert officer stationed at the Domestic Departure area of ANR Robinson International Airport detected a suspicious item during a routine baggage screening.
A 9mm round of ammunition, marked “Win 9mm Luger,” was found. The individual responsible for the baggage, a man from Sangre Grande, admitted to not holding a Firearm User’s License (FUL) and was subsequently arrested.
He is currently in custody at the Crown Point Police Station as investigations continue.
