Cumuto resident drowns at Caura River

A Cumuto man who was pulled from the water at Pool 1, Caura River during a family lime on Saturday, later died at hospital.

Chadee Singh, 31, of Cumuto Main Road, Cumuto, was pronounced dead by medical officials at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, around 3 pm.

He was last seen around 1.45 pm after deciding he wanted to go for a swim.

Singh was said to have been enjoying the day with the group when he reportedly left and walked to the bathing area.

Those present said they grew concerned when Singh failed to return some time later.

He was later seen floating in the water.

Pulling Singh’s body from the water, efforts were made to revive him as the police and the Emergency Health Services were contacted. Singh was rushed to hospital where he died.
