The former mayor of Caracas Antonio Ledezma He assured this Sunday that the opposition Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutiawho has just arrived in Spain, “wherever he is, he is the elected president of Venezuela,” since the “verified” voting records confirm this, and their validity does not vary if the elected president changes residence.

“We welcome him with the respect he deserves and the certainty that he will know how to fulfill the historic role that he must assume in this exile from where we will not cease to maintain our firm struggle to make the desire to return to the homeland come true,” said Ledezma, also exiled in Spain, in statements sent to EFE.

And “now we will have that triumphant duo formed by (the opposition leader) María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia, fulfilling the same agenda of fighting to rescue democracy in Venezuela,” he said.

What did Antonio Ledezma say about Edmundo González?

It will be in different scenarios, “each one in the two Venezuelas, the one that went into exile and the one that resists inside, always determined to promote an identical and unique strategy,” added the coordinator of the International Political Council of the María Corina Machado Command.

«We will see Edmundo González appearing as president-elect on the most important stages of the world and María Corina faithfully honoring her principled proclamation that this fight is until the end. María Corina will continue to resist alongside the brave people who trust her.“, according to Ledezma.

Persecution in Venezuela

He added that it is “known to everyone” that there is a “criminal and usurping” regime in Venezuela, which insists on wanting to “falsify an environment of pseudo-normalization.”

It is a country where the Constitution is “a rule of lies, because its supremacy has been devalued and stripped of its nature so that it ends up being a Magna Carta of façade.”

“Edmundo González Urrutia has been relentlessly harassed, including threats to his own life. This whole arsenal of abuses is part of a strategy tied to an organized indiscipline to give legality to immorality and crimes against humanity,” he commented in reference to the Venezuelan authorities.

And “the regime has escalated to unsuspected levels, marrying and arresting thousands of activists, without considering that many are children, murdering dissidents and issuing arrest warrants against the president-elect Edmundo González.”

The National Electoral Council first and then the Supreme Court endorsed the victory of Venezuelan President Maduro in the elections last July, while the opposition denounced a “major electoral fraud” and defended a clear victory for González Urrutia.

Venezuelan justice had ordered the opposition leader’s arrest after he ignored three summons from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which accuses him of various crimes for publishing voting records on the Internet that would have given him the victory.
