Edmundo González met with Juan Carlos Delpino

The opposition Edmundo González announced this Sunday that he met with Juan Carlos Delpinorector of the National Electoral Council, a key figure in the presidential elections of July 28.

On his Instagram account, the diplomat, who had to go into exile in Spain due to pressure from the government of Nicolás Maduro, stated: “I held a meeting with the rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela, Juan Carlos Delpino. “He conveyed to me in detail his experience of what he experienced on July 28 within the facilities of the electoral body.”

In addition to this, Gonzalez wrote to accompany the photo: “It is important to remember that Rector Delpino was the only one absent when the fraudulent results were announced on the night of the presidential election, which forced him to leave the country.”

The opponent recalled that not only the publication of the original minutes supports the majority desire of Venezuelans for change; “The real testimonies of those who were present on July 28 also confirm it.”

In August, the rector of the CNE released a statement in which he spoke of irregularities in the process, in which they gave Nicolás Maduro as a winner, without presenting minutes.

“Everything that happened before, during and after the presidential election points out the seriousness of the lack of transparency and veracity of the announced results,” he said in the text.

In addition to this, he commented: «After the closure of the voting stations, a non-compliance with essential rules and regulations was evident. When incidents of eviction of opposition witnesses were reported during the closing of polling stations, which constituted a direct violation of the principles of equity and non-observance of the rights of voters to have access to the voting records, compromising the legitimacy of the process in those voting centers.
