The opposition leader Edmundo González met this Thursday, October 10, with the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Rangel, to talk about the political situation that Venezuela is going through after the presidential elections of July 28.

“Keeping in mind the important Portuguese community in the country, the commitment to freedom, democracy and pluralism is reaffirmed and a call for political dialogue is called,” reported the Portuguese Foreign Ministry in its X account, where it shared a photograph of Rangel and Gonzalez.

The opponent, who had to go into exile in Spain due to pressure from the government of Nicolás Maduro, has met with important personalities from different European countries to discuss the Venezuelan crisis and reiterate his complaint of irregularities in the past presidential elections.

Edmundo González met with Juan Carlos Delpino

Recently, Edmundo González met with Juan Carlos Delpinorector of the National Electoral Council, who also found it necessary to go into exile from the country.

«I have held a meeting with the rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela Juan Carlos Delpino. He conveyed to me in detail his experience of what he experienced on July 28 within the facilities of the electoral body,” said the opposition leader.

In addition to this, González wrote to accompany the photo: «It is important to remember that Rector Delpino was the only one absent when the fraudulent results were announced on the night of the presidential election, which forced him to leave the country.

In August, the rector of the CNE released a statement in which he spoke of irregularities in the process, in which they declared Nicolás Maduro as the winner, without presenting minutes.
