Edmundo González sees Marco Rubio as a great ally to recover democracy in Venezuela
The standard bearer of the majority opposition in Venezuela, Edmundo González Urrutia, exiled in Spain, celebrated this Wednesday the appointment of Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State of the United States, in the next term of Donald Trump, and sees him as “a great ally ” to recover democracy in Venezuela.
“Marco Rubio knows first-hand the problems that afflict Venezuela and we are sure that he will be a great ally in our fight to recover freedom and democracy in our country,” González Urrutia said on social networks. during his visit to Brussels to thank the EU for its support of the same cause.
He political and former Venezuelan diplomat assured that the Venezuelan opposition is “pleased with the appointment, for the first time in the history of the United States, of a Hispanic as Secretary of State.”

Along the same lines, the opposition leader of Venezuela, María Corina Machado, also expressed herself from Caracas, who considers that the confirmation of Rubio at the head of US diplomacy, under the mandate of Trump, who will take office as president on January 20, is “ “Excellent news for all of Latin America.”
Rubio, key ally for the Venezuelan opposition
Born in Miami in 1971 and considered a “hawk” in foreign policy, Rubio is a supporter of a tough line against China and Iran, and sanctions on Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.
