Eight Inmates, 17 Prison Officers Positive For COVID-19

There are eight COVID-19 Positive inmates and 17 COVID-19 Positive prison officers.

Confirmation came this afternoon from Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds during the Question & Answer period of the Upper House.

According to Minister Hinds, COVID-19 Positive inmates and officers have all been quarantined in an effort protect the rest of the prison population.

The National Security Minister said the current situation is an improvement when compared to the infection rate last year.

In 2020, 250 prison officers and over 80 inmates were quarantined due to COVID-19 infections within the prison system.
